A Malaysia-based foundation called the Perdana International Anti-Corruption Champion Fund (PIACCF) has bestowed an award on Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan. The award ceremony on Tuesday evening also marked the launch of the new foundation, which sees itself as a support system for anticorruption officials who are intimidated, criminalized or threatened in carrying out their duties. Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad presented the accolade to Novel and to the late Malaysian deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais – who was represented by his brother Richard – for their contributions to fighting corruption. Morais was abducted and murdered in 2015 while investigating a corruption case. Meanwhile, Novel had acid thrown into his face by two attackers in 2017, severely injuring his eyes.
