INDIA NOT DOING ENOUGH TO BUILD CLIMATE-RESILIENT INFRASTRUCTURE

Dust storms, rain and thunder lashed parts of northern India on May 8, uprooting trees and blowing the roofs off homes in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district but striking with less fury in other places.

The recent dust storms in north India and unseasonal snowfall in Uttarakhand may not be linked to climate change but freak weather syndrome is becoming the new norm. This means the country has to invest much more in climate-resilient infrastructure.
