Activists and families of eight victims of the Philippines “war on drugs” have filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing President Rodrigo Duterte of murder and crimes against humanity, Al-Jazeera reports. The ICC is already conducting an inquiry into allegations of crimes against humanity by Duterte in response to a legal submission by a Fillipino lawyer that laid out evidence for his alleged role in “extrajudicial executions and mass murder”. In April, Duterte threatened to arrest ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensuda if she conducted activities in his country, arguing that as the Philippines was no longer an ICC member the court had no right to do any investigating.
