US President Donald Trump has congratulated Chinese leader Xi Jinping on his “extraordinary elevation” after this week’s Communist Party congress. Trump also praised Mr Xi in a TV interview in the US, and said “some might call him king of China“.  Speaking at an event hosted by the US Council on Foreign Relations on Wednesday, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long asked, “With Mao, China stands up. With Deng, they have gotten wealthy and now with Xi, they are strong. What does ‘strong’ mean?”  The success of Chinese state-managed capitalism has called into question the legitimacy of Anglo-Saxon markets and liberal democracy, writes Amar Diwakar for Al-Jazeera.
