Charging the wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Rosmah Mansor, in court is done according to the law and not an act of revenge, said Mahathir Mohamad. The Prime Minister said this goes to show that no one is above the law, The Star reports. According to a court cause list, Rosmah is facing 17 charges of money laundering involving about RM7 million, and will be brought before Sessions Court Judge Azura Alwi. Reviled in Malaysia for her lavish overseas shopping sprees and fetish for Birkin handbags as well as dazzling jewelry, Rosmah was released on bail on Thursday after spending the night in detention at the office of the country’s anti-corruption agency, Rappler reports.
