Citing security and terrorism experts, Channel News Asia reported on Tuesday that international terror groups are coalescing around the plight of the Rohingyas, calling for jihad to defend them. Al-Qaeda has issued a statement calling all Muslims to take up arms on behalf of the Rohingyas. In Indonesia, the hardline Islamic Defender Front (FPI) claimed that 10,000 people had signed up to defend the Rohingya cause in Myanmar. It is only a matter of time, analysts said, before international militants converges with the Arakan Rohingya Solidarity Army (ARSA), which has been fighting Myanmar’s security personnel. Myanmar will consider taking back only those Rohingya refugees who have fled the country in the past year.
