A Malaysian court has jointly charged former Prime Minister Najib Razak and former Finance Ministry Secretary General Irwan Serigar Abdullah with criminal breach of trust, widening the scope of the corruption scandal at state fund 1Malaysian Development Berhad (1MDB), Nikkei Asian Review reports. Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor is expected to present herself to the police on Friday for her statement to be recorded in connection with investigations into alleged misappropriation of funds from 1MDB, according to Bernama. The names of several companies and individuals with links to Saudi Arabia and the UAE have cropped up in the course of investigations into 1MDB by authorities around the world, but Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad fears that gulf governments may be protecting individuals linked to the scandal, Forbes reports.
