Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, who is implicated in the investigation into the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, is seeking to cut a deal with the US Department of Justice, says the Sarawak Report. Jho Low is the subject of Billion Dollar Whale, written by two Wall Street Journal reporters who also broke many of the original stories about the scandal at 1MDB. The book portrays him as a young social climber who pulled off one of the biggest financial heists in history. Together with Malaysia’s former prime minister Najib Razak, Jho Low is accused of playing a key role in the alleged disappearance of $4.5 billion from 1MDB. Najib currently stand accused in 25 legal charges involving money laundering and abuse of power.
