Vietnam has refused to let a campaigner from Amnesty International attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) set to be held in the Southeast Asian nation this week, the rights group said on Monday, the second such refusal in as many days, Channel News Asia reports. Previously on Saturday, Debbie Stothard, secretary general of the International Federation for Human Rights, was turned away after landing in the Vietnamese capital, WEF spokesperson Fon Mathuros said. Vietnam’s human rights record remains dire in all areas, according to the Human Rights Watch, citing persistent restrictions on basic rights, including those of freedom of speech, of opinion, free press, association and religion.
