Hundreds of supporters of Cambodia’s main opposition party leader, Kem Sokha, gathered outside his house on Monday after he was released on bail after spending more than a year in jail on treason charges, Reuters reports. After having been held in isolation and with scant access to medical care for a year, Kem Sokha is suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure and has a serious shoulder issue that requires medical attention, according to The New York Times. A high-profile Cambodian land activist has been freed from prison and two jailed journalists granted bail in the past few weeks following the ruling party’s domination of an effectively uncontested election late last month.
