Ivanhoe Pictures, the film financier and producer best known as Warner Bros’ co-production partner on Crazy Rich Asians, has inked deals with several Asian production companies to co-produce a three-picture slate of local-language films in Indonesia, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Indonesia’s massive yet underdeveloped cinema market has been attracting a lot of interest from foreign investors as of late. Fox International Productions, the local-language moviemaking arm of 20th Century Fox, premiered its first feature film in Indonesia, “Wiro Sableng”, last week. For decades the film industry had been on the so-called negative list in Indonesia until two years ago, when the government lifted significant restrictions on foreign investment in the sector.
