Malaysia could dissolve Parliament this month, cutting short its current sitting and paving the way for polls next month or in May, sources told The Straits Times. Prime Minister Najib Razak on Thursday announced cash handouts on top of bonuses already paid to staff of Malaysia’s largest government-linked asset management firm, as he prepares for a general election. Separately on Thursday, Malaysia’s former Prime Minister turned opposition leader Mahathir Mohamad joined the photo-sharing social media site Instagram, making his first post a snapshot of he and his wife in a light-hearted moment. The account had gained 10,800 followers as of 12pm.
