Malaysia’s former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad said if he could turn back time and choose again, he might not sack his then deputy Anwar Ibrahim. In an exclusive interview with Sin Chew Daily at his office in Putrajaya, the 92-year-old former premier said he should not have followed the law completely. Mahathir said on Tuesday that he was open to contesting under Anwar’s People’s Justice Party should his party be deregistered before polls. The Kuala Lumpur High Court on Monday dismissed Anwar’s bid to secure freedom ahead of the country’s general elections, which may be called within weeks. The former deputy prime minister had sought to strike out his sodomy conviction.
