A Vietnamese court found two Vietnamese-Americans guilty of terrorism on Wednesday and sentenced them to 14 years in prison for masterminding a series of bomb plots earlier this year, a court official told Reuters. Apart from the two Americans, the court sentenced 10 others for subversive crimes that involve printing 4,000 leaflets, plotting to take over national radio and calling for demonstrations on April 30 last year – celebrated as “reunification day” to mark the end of the Vietnam war in 1975. In January, Vietnam declared a US-based group, Provisional National Government of Vietnam (PNGV), a “terrorist organisation”, a rare designation in the communist country, after some members were convicted for plotting to attack Ho Chi Minh City’s airport.
