Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha is “interested in politics,” he said on Monday as quoted by Bangkok Post, a sign that he sees a public role for himself after a general election promised next year. Caricatures of the Thai junta chief as a “lucky cat” with a paw raised to rake in money, or his face crossed out by a thick red-line daring graffiti, are cropping up across Bangkok as the city’s walls become a canvas for rare political scorn, Agence-France Presse reports. In February, VOA News reported that the military government filed criminal charges against 50 activists over a protest in which they demanded the army give up power and restore civilian rule through elections. The military ousted an elected government in May 2014.
