The Philippines intends to sue pharmaceutical giant Sanofi after authorities suspended its anti-dengue vaccine in response to the company warning the drug could lead to severe infections in some cases, the health secretary said on Thursday. The World Health Organization (WHO) supported a decision by the Philippines Department of Health to suspend vaccinations with Sanofi’s dengue drug Dengvaxia, the WHO said in a statement. Sanofi itself made an announcement about risks pertinent to the Dengue vaccine on Wednesday, November 29, after new analysis of 6 years’ worth of clinical data.
