Myanmar police have arrested a prominent government critic on suspicion of violating sedition laws, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. Ngar Min Swe was arrested at his home late on Thursday, according to Reuters, quoting Eleven Media, which belongs to one of Myanmar’s largest media groups. Since Suu Kyi came to power, more than 30 journalists have been detained, including two Reuters journalist who are charged with obtaining secret state documents. The journalists will go to trial on Monday after more than six months of pre-trial hearings. The pair was investigating the killing of 10 Rohingya men and boys when they were invited to dinner by police officers but were instead arrested when they arrived for the meal.
