Malaysia will send an official representative to Singapore to discuss the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail (HSR) project by the end of the month, said Malaysian Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali on Monday, Channel News Asia reports. Speaking at a press conference in May, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said that the decision to shut down the high-speed rail project was final, but the process would take time due to penalties involved in breaking an agreement with Singapore. Singapore’s Ministry of Transport (MOT) said that it has not received any official notification from Malaysia regarding the dropping of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project ever since the announcement, according to the Straits Times.
