Jakarta Post-Apr 11

Google has initiated an Android programming scholarship for 1,000 university students and teachers in Indonesia.

According to kompas.com, the scholarship is one of the results from President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s visit to Silicon Valley in 2016. At the time, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, promised to train 100,000 app developers in Indonesia until the year 2020.

Google is collaborating with Dicoding, a platform for app developers in Indonesia with over 80,000 members. The 1,000 scholarships will be given during the duration of 90 days, to university students and teachers of information technology who wish to learn Android programming.

Dicoding will provide 125 modules, 35 videos and 24 quizzes for the whole course, which will be offered in the Indonesian language. Through the Dicoding Academy website, Dicoding and Google Developer Expert will guide the training with a discussion forum and code reviews.

Participants can expect to learn how to build apps using the Android operation system.

Participants will receive printed copies of Becoming Expert Android Developer by Dicoding, after they register and follow the course.

At the end of the course, all graduates will receive certificates once they complete the modules. Further information is available on the Dicoding’s website.
