The fierce competition between Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing service Grab and its Indonesian rival Go-Jek is set to explode across borders as the latter rolls into Vietnam with plans for further regional expansion, Nikkei Asian Review reports. Go-Jek has taken the first step out of its home country to launch operations in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi. Go-Viet, which was launched Wednesday, is described as an “on-demand multi-service platform”, CNET reports. This follows a soft launch in Ho Chi Minh City six weeks ago. Meanwhile, as part of a plan to becoming a “superapp,” Grab is looking to add peer-to-peer (P2P) lending and remittance services in Southeast Asia, according to Tech in Asia.
