Malaysia’s prime minister-in-waiting, Anwar Ibrahim, was rushed to hospital late on Saturday night after he complained of a pain in his shoulder and back on his return from Turkey. Fahmi Fadzil, spokesman for Anwar’s People’s Justice Party (PKR) said Anwar was taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Anwar has previously undergone a shoulder surgery after suffering from continuous pain in his right shoulder, which worsened after a car accident on Sept 22. Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is supposed to relinquish the premiership to Anwar in two years’ time, but the veteran statesman says his stint could be extended beyond that. Mahathir acknowledged that two years was the initial decision, but this was not set in stone, according to The Star Online.
