At the plenary session of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)  and World Bank (WB) meetings in Bali, President Joko Widodo peppered his speech with references to the HBO series Game of Thrones, where families and kingdoms battle for power in a fictional continent, to explain risks facing the global economy, Reuters reports. In stark language, he said alliances between major powers are breaking down and the world is rapidly descending into a battle for supremacy akin to those seen on the show. Attendees said the speech won the longest-ever standing ovation in the history of the IMF and World Bank joint event. A trade war between the U.S., China and Europe could lead to a recession, says economist Russ Roberts of the Hoover Institution. It is normal for trade flows to be uneven in the global marketplace.
