Seventeen men have been arrested and millions of dollars in cash seized as part of an investigation into a suspected oil theft at Shell’s biggest refinery, Singapore police said on Tuesday. Nine Singaporeans and two Vietnamese men have been charged for their alleged involvement. According to court documents, there were three incidents of gasoil theft – in November 2017, and on Jan 5 and Jan 7 this year. About 4,384 metric tons of gasoil, valued at S$2.4 million, were stolen from Shell’s biggest refinery. Shell confirmed on Tuesday that eight of the 11 men charged were current or former employees at Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd.
