Despite a deal with Uber that has opened Southeast Asia’s ride-hailing market, Singapore-based Grab is struggling to expand in Vietnam, where it has failed to secure approval from local authorities in the country’s rising tourist destinations that are crucial for its growth, the Nikkei Asian Review reports. Grab is also facing tough competition from traditional taxi service providers. Three major taxi firms in Hanoi have recently joined forces to have their 3,000 vehicles operating under a single brand in a bid to take on the ride-hailing behemoth, VN Express International reports.  Meanwhile, Indonesia-based ride-sharing company Go-Jek entered the regional competition by opening services in Vietnam earlier this month.
