The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested Najib Razak, the country’s former prime minister, on Wednesday in relation to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) investigation, specifically involving RM2.6 billion ($866) funds that flowed from the troubled state fund to his personal bank account. Najib will face several other charges, the MAAC said. In July and August, Najib was charged with money laundering, a criminal breach of trust and abuse of power in relation to 1MDB. His wife, Rosmah Mansor, who allegedly played a role in the misappropriation of 1MDB funds, would soon face up to 20 criminal charges, mostly linked to money laundering activities, according to the New Straits Times, quoting anonymous sources.
