Malaysia’s former prime minister, Najib Razak, has been charged with 21 counts of money laundering, in a case linked to a multi-million dollar corruption scandal. He was also charged with four counts of abuse of power, BBC reports. The Malaysian police raided the residence of Najib’s mother on Thursday, his lawyer confirmed, adding that nothing had been confiscated from the house. Najib was released on bail since his arrest on Wednesday, with his lawyer requesting that the bail be paid in tranches: RM1mil to be paid on Friday and another RM500,000 next week. Since his downfall in the May 9 election, Najib has been slapped with 32 legal charges. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
