Four Malaysian opposition parties on Wednesday unveiled a shadow Cabinet, the first in the country’s history, which they say will play a check and balance role on policies being pursued by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, The Straits Times reports. The shadow cabinet is formed by Barisan Nasional coalition members: UMNO, Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) and Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC). Many of the Shadow posts are filled by MPs who formerly held those portfolios while BN was the federal government, according to Today Online. Khairy Jamaluddin, who holds a position as shadow finance ministry, urged the Malaysian government to provide resources for Shadow ministers. He also welcomes suggestions from the public to help the opposition craft their first shadow budget.
