Malaysia’s anti-graft agency detained a former chief executive of 1Malaysia Development Berhad, Arul Kanda, on Tuesday as part of the ongoing probe into the scandal-tainted state fund. He will be charged along with former Prime Minister Najib Razak on Wednesday for their roles, Nikkei Asian Review reports. The charges against Arul and Najib would come after Auditor General Madinah Mohamad said that a government audit report was tampered in February 2016 to remove Malaysian financier Low Taek Jho’s appearance at a 1MDB board meeting. Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, was charged in absentia last week with offences involving 1MDB. Low was charged with five charges under Section 4(1)(a) of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001 (Amla).
