Former Malaysia prime minister Mahathir Mohamad told Bloomberg that Chinese investors would face more scrutiny if he returned to power. Chinese investment was welcome if companies set up operations in Malaysia, employed locals, and brought in capital and technology to the country. This wasn’t the case now, he said. Prime Minister Najib Razak announced the dissolution of parliament on Friday, paving the way for a general election showdown with Mahathir, his old mentor and the country’s most seasoned campaigner. The Election Commission will be holding a special meeting Today at 10am local time  to decide on the important dates for the 14th General Election (GE14).
