Former Malaysian youth minister Khairy Jamaluddin who lost on Saturday in his bid to become the next president of United Malaysia National Organisation (UMNO) has attacked the party’s powerful ‘warlords’ for blocking its members’ wish for change, The Straits Times reports. Former Malaysian deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was on Saturday elected as UMNO president, succeeding former prime minister Najib Razak, who stepped down after the stunning defeat of his Barisan Nasional coalition in the country’s general election in May. Hamidi confirmed on Sunday that he will be meeting with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigators on Monday to give explanations over alleged abuse of funds of a foundation which is owned by his family.
