Indonesians born between 2000 and 2004, who are members of Generation Z, think that the country has not shown much improvement in its economic, democratic and anticorruption drives, though most are satisfied with how the current administration is handling the COVID-19 pandemic, a public opinion poll has found. Jakarta-based Indikator Politik Indonesia polled 1,200 eligible voters aged 17 to 21 across the country from March 4 to 10 to capture their opinions on social-political issues and found that they were dissatisfied with the current state of the country’s economy and democracy. It found that 40 percent of respondents believed Indonesia has become less democratic and 35 percent said the progress of democracy in the country has remained stagnant. Additionally, 58 percent of respondents said economic development should be prioritized over democracy.
