A Pole detained in Indonesia late last month could face life imprisonment having been charged with plotting against the state after being named as a suspect in a conspiracy to smuggle arms to separatists in Papua, Channel News Asia reports. The Polish citizen, identified only as 39-year-old JF, was arrested last month while he was on his way to handover ammunitions to buyers at Habema Lake in Jayawijaya, military officials said. Amnesty International Indonesia describes the country’s Papua region as one of the country’s black holes when it comes to human rights. A new report by the group claims that at least 95 people have been killed by Indonesian security forces in Papua and West Papua provinces since 2010.
