Four technology trends will create business opportunities in Southeast Asia in the next 5 years, according to global performance management company Nielsen Holdings: the rise of the sharing economy, spread of existing technology and infrastructure, big data and artificial intelligence, and cashless payment. Grab, one of the largest ride-sharing apps in the region—rivaling Uber —  launched its own payment system on Tuesday. Cash is still king in Southeast Asia, but may be dethroned sooner rather than later as the region embraces the cashless society using smartphones tied to mobile payment systems.
