British appliance maker Dyson has chosen Singapore as the production base for its foray into electric vehicles, it announced Tuesday, with work set to start in December on a plant expected to be completed in 2020, Nikkei Asian Review reports. Home to a market of 640 million people, Southeast Asia is a potential market for electric cars. According to a report by the International Renewable Energy Association (IRENA) the region could have 59 million electric two- to three-wheelers and 8.9 million electric four-wheel vehicles by 2025. Meanwhile, Nissan Motor Thailand has sought the assistance of Bangkok-based Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) to develop quick-charging facilities for electric vehicles (EVs) to be installed across the Thai capital as it prepares to launch its electric vehicle model, the Leaf, according to Just Auto.
