Investigators of the October 29 crash of a Lion Air flight into the Java Sea say the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft summoned reporters Thursday to clarify that the doomed plane was deemed airworthy when it made its final take-off from Jakarta, The Associated Press reports. A malfunctioning sensor and an automated response from the aircraft’s software stymied pilots’ efforts to control the plan, investigators said in a preliminary investigative report. Investigators are now combing through the plane’s 385 previous flights to determine whether there was a pattern of similar problems, The Australian confirmed. The angle-of-attack sensor that was removed from the aircraft two days before it crashed will be sent to the US next week to determine if it was faulty.
