Businesspeople in Indonesia are particularly upbeat about what lies in store for them, according to a recent survey conducted by business consulting firm Grant Thornton. The survey results published in the Grant Thornton International Business Report (IBR) show that 87 percent of business owners in Indonesia expect their revenue to increase in the next 12 months. That suggests Indonesian businesspeople are more optimistic than their peers in all of the other 28 countries assessed in the survey. In Vietnam, 82 percent of business owners foresaw rising revenue next year, while 80 percent expressed that view in India. The Finance Ministry, Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) have estimated that the country’s GDP growth will pick up in 2022 to a rate between 4 and 5.5 percent. The IBR report notes that 37 percent of business players in Indonesia said the country’s COVID-19 surveillance app PeduliLindungi had a “huge impact” on their businesses as it was considered an efficient tool for monitoring workers’ health.
