South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Thursday unveiled a new policy aimed at deepening ties with Southeast Asia, as the North Asian economic powerhouse seeks to curb its reliance on traditional trading partners like China and the United States. Previously on Thursday, Moon and Indonesia President Joko Widodo oversaw the signing of business agreements worth $1.9 billion. Moon, who became president in May after a snap election, commented about the need to rebalance South Korea’s diplomacy by strengthening ties with countries and broadening the foreign front beyond the traditional global powers.
