The magistrate’s court here today fixed May 28 to mention the case of a senior citizen charged with murdering her Indonesian maid in February.
Magistrate Dianne Ningrad Nor Azahar set the date after deputy public prosecutor Hamzah Azhan informed the court that they have yet to obtain the pathology report.
Consul General of Indonesia in Penang, Iwanshah Wibisono, was present at today’s proceedings.
Outside the court, Iwanshah expressed hope that the case would be settled speedily to ensure justice was served for Adelina Lisao, 26.
He said Adelina’s family had received her deferred salary amounting to RM69,300 from her former employer.
M.A.S. Ambika, 59, was charged with murdering Adelina at her house in Taman Kota Permai here between March last year and Feb 10 this year.
Adelina was rescued from her employer’s home at Taman Kota Permai, Bukit Mertajam, on Feb 10 after it was reported that she was physically abused and was made to sleep on the porch with a dog.
She was found with severe injuries on her head and face, and infected wounds on her hands and legs. Adelina died while being treated at the Seberang Jaya Hospital.
