The United States and China ended trade talks in Beijing on Sunday without any announced deals and with Chinese officials refusing to commit to buying more American goods without a Trump administration agreement not to impose further tariffs on Chinese exports. China has warned that all trade talks between Beijing and Washington will be void if the US sets up trade sanctions. The talks were aimed at reducing the bilateral trade deficit. Currently, the US buys nearly four times as much from China as it sells. The Trump administration announced last week it was moving forward with tariffs and other trade restrictions associated with U.S. claims of intellectual property theft by Chinese enterprises. But the actions will not be implemented until mid-June or early July.
