Myanmar’s popular armed struggle against military dictatorship faces a growing crisis: a severe shortage of weapons and ammunition. This scarcity, long a defining challenge for resistance groups, was compounded in August when the United Wa State Army (UWSA)—reportedly under Chinese pressure—announced it would halt arms and financial support to key allies, including the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), and Shan State Progress Party (SSPP).
