Malaysia will reopen its embassy in Pyongyong and may re-establish its relationship with North Korea, said Malaysia’s Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Mahathir said Malaysia should not be sceptical of North Korea’s sincerity in its negotiations with the US, as suspicions would inhibit the collaboration. Meanwhile, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tuesday welcomed a document signed by North Korea’s leader at an unprecedented summit with US President Donald Trump as a “first step” towards denuclearisation. The United Nations urged countries to be patient and support North Korea’s pledge to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula. Stephane Dujarric, a UN spokesman, said on Tuesday: “Implementing today’s and previous agreements reached, in accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions, will require patience and support from the global community.”
