With Myanmar’s general election set to take place on Nov. 8, the biggest question is whether the ruling party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), will secure another landslide victory. Some observers say that a significant decline in the party’s popularity in ethnic areas means it will need to forge alliances with ethnic parties in order to form a government after the 2020 election.
