Malaysia’s Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said he would honor an agreement by the four partners of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) alliance to step down after two years and hand over the country’s leadership to Anwar Ibrahim, Bernama reports. Previously, lawmaker Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid said he was convinced of a plot by Mahatir and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali to prevent the handover plan agreed upon prior to the May 9 general election. Anwar has said that he is happy to play a “check-and-balance” role to the current administration by looking at institutional reforms that include a review of the bumiputra policy, The Star Online reports.
