The local administration of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara has made it mandatory for students in the city to consume food and drink infused with Moringa leaves in an effort to combat stunting in the area. Head of the city’s agency for education and culture Dumuliahi Djami said in a circular that students were required to consume Moringa on Wednesdays and Fridays. Dumuliahi said Moringa contained heavy doses of vitamin C, calcium, protein and minerals that students needed to boost their health and stamina. “On top of that, moringa can protect our body from arsenic poisoning as well as preventing cancerous growth,” Dumuliahi was quoted by Antara as saying. East Nusa Tenggara Governor Viktor Laiskodat and deputy governor Josef Nae Soi have made the growing of moringa as a priority for their administration.  In 2019, Josef likened the consumption of moringa with drinking milk for some of its health benefits. “In foreign countries, they have a ‘white revolution’, to boost the consumption of milk. Here we have a ‘green revolution’ with moringa. If this can scare off demons, then it can deal with stunting,” Josef said.
