Indonesia has invited North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to attend the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Jakarta in August following a similar invitation to South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Reuters reports. Indonesia is putting the finishing touches to parts of Jakarta where its thoroughfares and sporting facilities, including the country’s largest stadium, have been undergoing a facelift ahead of the Asian Games it is hosting next month, The Straits Times reports. Meanwhile, Rights groups are calling for an independent investigation into the recent extrajudicial killings of 11 suspected criminals in an intensified crackdown on drug dealers ahead of the Games, Al-Jazeera reports.
