Indonesia’s Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry plans to expand the use of biodiesel by 13 per cent to 3.5 million kilolitres annually by encouraging the mining sector and state-owned railway operator KAI to use the fuel. The European Union has removed duties on biodiesel imports for 13 Argentine and Indonesian producers following the end of legal proceedings at the European Court of Justice (ECJ), an EU document shows. Last month, the US Department of Commerce issued an affirmative final anti-dumping duty on biodiesel shipments that originated from Indonesia, saying that the decision was made to improve the situation of local US biodiesel producers as their business was undermined by cheap biodiesel imports from the two countries.
