Indonesia has expressed concern over Australia’s announcement that it was open to moving its  embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, but stressed that a landmark trade deal between the two countries – due to be signed by year-end – has not been derailed, The Strait Times reports. A screenshot of the WhatsApp messages, obtained Tuesday night by Channel 7, shows a series of messages allegedly coming from Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi saying that the embassy move plan, which was announced on the same day that she was to meet Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, “would slap Indonesia’s face” and “affect bilateral relations”. Malaysia’s prime minister-in-waiting Anwar Ibrahim also warned that Australia could jeopardise its relations with ASEAN countries by recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
