Indonesian ride-hailing and online payment company Go-Jek is set to announce its first expansion to another country in Southeast Asia in the “next few weeks”, according to an internal company email seen by Reuters. The ride-sharing company could become Indonesia’s first-billion dollar start-up to hold an initial public offering after the transport and technology company met with the nation’s equity market earlier this month. Go-Jek has distributed Rp 9.9 trillion (US$720.72 million) in earnings to its drivers and its micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) partners annually, a survey conducted by the Demographic Institute of the University of Indonesia’s (UI) Economics and Business School has found.
