Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte is planning a visit to Israel in September, with talks to coordinate the meeting taking place between the two countries, according to Haaretz. In April, on Israel’s 70th anniversary, Israel and the Philippines celebrated their friendship in a “day of jubilation” at the historical Luneta Park in Manila. In addition to celebrating Israel’s rebirth as a nation, the event commemorated 60 years of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Israel. The Philippines is reportedly considering moving its embassy to Jerusalem, a few days after the country abstained from a United Nations vote calling for the United States to drop its recognition of the Holy City as Israel’s capital, Philstar Global reports.
