A report on the death penalty in Malaysia has highlighted inmates’ struggles with legal representation and with a “secretive” pardons system and called on the government to reform both these processes.  Compiled by human rights NGO Amnesty International, the “Fatally Flawed: Why Malaysia Must Abolish the Death Penalty” report noted the gaps in existing legal aid mechanisms.
